Sometimes the best meals are the ones you throw together from whatever is already in the fridge.
This was my supper tonight and it absolutely crushed a bunch of cravings at once.
✅ Salty, fresh bruschetta (the big 950g tubs from Costco are awesome)
✅ Sourdough bread for the carb craving
✅ A pile of beef for the protein
The steak was actually just leftover roast. I marinated it overnight with salt, garlic, and pepper, then slow-cooked it at 260°F for about an hour.
After that, I seared the outside in a cast iron pan with butter.
The result? Tender as any steak I’ve had and perfect for a protein-packed take on bruschetta.
What I love most about this meal is that I didn’t follow a recipe. I just looked at what I had available, thought about the foods I enjoy, and combined them into something that fit my goals while still feeling like a treat.
That’s probably the lesson here:
If your fridge is stocked with foods that support your goals, you’ll naturally make better choices when you’re hungry.
If I had a bunch of junk sitting around, I probably would have eaten that instead.
Environment matters.
Don’t buy the sht, and you won’t eat the sht. 😆
