If you have tried everything for your sleep and nothing has worked, this might be why. Most sleep advice treats sleep as the problem. Better mattress. No screens before bed. Melatonin. Sleep hygiene protocols. And those things can help. But if your nervous system is running a protection pattern, none of them get to the root of what is actually keeping you awake. Your nervous system does not know the difference between 2pm and 2am. If it has learned to stay on guard, it stays on guard. The lights going off does not change that. The melatonin does not change that. The white noise machine does not change that. What changes it is retraining the pattern that is running underneath the sleep problem. I worked with people who had tried every sleep intervention available. The sleep did not change until the nervous system pattern did. Once the pattern changed, the sleep followed without anyone doing anything specifically about the sleep. If your sleep is broken, look at the system running underneath it. That is usually where the real answer is.
