Welcome to HNDC
Welcome. I'm glad you're here. Quick note on what this space is, and isn't. This isn't a place to compare symptoms or confirm that what you're dealing with is unfixable. It's a place to do the work of changing it. Here's the short version of what HND means: a lot of what people get stuck with, tight muscles, pain that won't quit, sleep that won't settle, movement they're afraid to do, isn't permanent damage. It's a pattern your nervous system learned and is still running, even after the original cause is gone. I know that because I lived it after a car accident left me structurally stable and still in real pain for a year and a half. I retrained the pattern. It changed. Three things that will help you get the most out of this community: Post questions. This group only works if you use it. Look for people further along than you. Their posts are proof this works. If you're only here to be told nothing can change, this will feel uncomfortable. Stay anyway. Start by introducing yourself below: what are you working to get back to?
Don't Pick it Up
Today, try this: before you pick something up, stand from a chair, or turn a certain way, pause for 10 seconds first. Just notice what your body braces for. Don't fix it, don't force it. Just notice. That gap between the trigger and the reaction is where retraining actually happens

Do this Today
Before August starts, write down one thing you want to be able to do that you are not doing right now. Not a resolution. Not a strategy. Just the one thing that matters most.

Quick one for anyone dealing with low back pain that keeps coming back.
There are three mistakes I see almost every time. Waiting too long after the first episode. Doing nothing between flares once the pain settles down. Expecting it to heal in a week or two. Here is the part that matters. The first episode is the window. Your nervous system starts learning the pattern right then, not just your tissue healing or not healing. The time between flares is where the real work happens. That quiet stretch where you feel fine is exactly when you should be retraining the system, not ignoring it. And the timeline matters too. A structural injury can heal in weeks. A nervous system pattern reinforced over years does not follow that same clock. Expecting it to should not be the reason people quit right before it starts working. If this sounds familiar, this is exactly what we work on inside the 8-Week Healing Journey.
