Closing this community
Hi. In the next few days, I’ll be closing this community. It’s just not sustainable for me. Thanks for your contributions and please stay in touch with me personally. I’ll still be coaching and providing writing skills individually.
About Being A Writer …
I’ve been thinking a lot about community lately — the real kind, the weird kind, the “oh thank god you’re also like this” kind. And it reminded me of something Chuck Wendig said. Quoted From: 2013 - Writers Digest - The Kick-Ass Writer: 1001 Ways to Write Great Fiction, Get Published, and Earn Your Audience - Chuck Wendig “The Internet is 55 percent porn and 45 percent writers. You are not alone, and that’s a thing both good and bad. It’s bad because you can never be the glittery little glass pony you want to be. It’s bad because the competition out there is as thick as an ungroomed 1970s pubic tangle. It’s good because, if you choose to embrace it, you can find a community. A community of people who will share their neuroses and their drink recipes. And their, ahem, “fictional” methods for disposing of bodies.” Wendig’s joke lands because it’s true — and honestly, it’s kind of great. You’re not alone out here. You’re not “special” in the lonely, isolated way; you’re special in the belonging way. The internet might be chaotic, noisy, and overflowing with writers, but that just means it’s also the biggest, strangest, most delightfully welcoming campfire around. If you’re looking for your people, this is exactly where they’re gathering — laughing, creating, oversharing, and pulling up a seat for anyone who wanders in. Personally - I love that book !

A Cool Quote
“It isn’t surprising, then, that many writers are ambivalent, if not altogether neurotic, about bringing their work forward.” Found in Chapter 4 - The Self promoter from 2000 “The Forest for the Trees - An Editor’s Advice to Writers” Betsy Lerner Riverhead Books EDUCATION WRITING I thought it was a great quote as in 2026 writers must self‑promote - and often on social media (eg TikTok, Substack, Medium, Instagram, newsletters, podcasts). If anything, 2026 has amplified the ambivalence because the pressure to self‑promote is now unavoidable. Writers today live in a world where self‑promotion isn’t optional - it’s the water they swim in. What do you think ?

Meeting in real life
Online is great for connecting us, but there’s nothing quite like chatting in real life. Remember to use these passing conversations as motivation or inspiration for your writing! Any writing you do is better than a blank page.

New video uploaded!
I'm being more active over on YouTube, so I thought I would do a bit more to explain what this community is all about.
