I thought it was a great quote as in 2026 writers must self‑promote - and often on social media (eg TikTok, Substack, Medium, Instagram, newsletters, podcasts). If anything, 2026 has amplified the ambivalence because the pressure to self‑promote is now unavoidable. Writers today live in a world where self‑promotion isn’t optional - it’s the water they swim in.
