We decide to change... then what?
Small changes. Big changes.
Our nervous system doesn't care.
A promotion.
A holiday amazing trip.
A new relationship.
Moving into our dream home.
Even the changes we've been praying for can make our palms sweaty and our stomach do interpretive dance. 😅
Why? Because our brain isn't designed to keep us happy. It's designed to keep us alive.
Our nervous system is constantly asking one question: "Is this familiar?"
Not... "Is this good for me?"
Familiar often wins.
That's why people stay in jobs they dislike, relationships they've outgrown, or patterns that no longer serve them.
Not because they're weak.
Because the known feels safer than the unknown.
But remember: 📌 Our Comfort Zone isn't comfortable... It's Just Familiar.
To our nervous system...
New = Potential danger.
So it pulls the handbrake.
Doubt shows up.
Fear grabs the microphone.
Our inner critic suddenly becomes a full-time risk assessor.
But here's the beautiful twist...
Growth always asks for a version of you that has never existed before.
You can't create a new life with an old identity.
The way through isn't to eliminate fear.
It's to teach your nervous system that new doesn't mean dangerous.
🩵Take one small step at a time.
Breathe through the discomfort instead of running from it.
🎁Celebrate every tiny win.
With repetition, today's scary becomes tomorrow's normal.
🫂Make it Familiar
Visualize or journal a script of yourself in the new job, house, relationships, life. Teach your brain what's the new familiar zone.
One day you'll look back, smiling, wondering why the life you love once felt so terrifying.
The real comfort zone...
isn't where nothing changes.
It's where your nervous system learns to feel safe while you're changing. 😊🤗🥳
