We are always shrinking ourselves.
We spend decades carefully shrinking ourselves to fit into spaces that were never built to hold the full weight of our spirit. We swallow our genuine feelings and offer polite smiles through the sharp sting of disrespect, quietly believing that sacrificing our own boundaries is the required currency for love and belonging. This relentless, daily performance of pretending everything is perfectly fine when your heart is deeply aching is a heavy, exhausting burden that slowly erases your true identity.
The Buddha taught the fierce, unshakeable perfection of Sacca—absolute, fearless truthfulness. This is absolutely never limited to simply avoiding lies to others; its most vital application is the courageous refusal to live a lie within your own life. Continuing to make yourself small to maintain the false comfort of those around you is a profound violation of your own sacred dignity. Authentic mindfulness demands the roaring courage to stop digesting other people's toxic behavior and politely calling it peace.
You absolutely do not have to hide your magnificent, complex shape to earn a love that is real. Reclaim the immense power you surrendered to the paralyzing fear of being labeled "too difficult." Stand firmly and unapologetically in the full, unedited truth of who you are, honor the staggering strength of your genuine voice, and fiercely reject the exhausting illusion that you must disappear to be worthy of genuine care.
