The intentional pause
This is a very simple but powerful practice which can stop the flow of thinking in any moment. You can try it right now. Stop whatever you are doing, just for a moment. Take a slow, deep conscious breath and pause to take in the moment. Notice what's happening in and around you right now. The physical sensation of the breath as it flows in and out of the body. The cool air touching your skin. Any sounds around you. Your feet on the ground. Just be attentive for a few moments to NOW and whatever it contains. What happens to the mind when you do this?
