The bar chart below shows the sector contributions to India's gross domestic product from 1960 to 2000.

ANSWER:

The bar chart provides information about the changes in the contributions of agriculture, industry, and services to India’s GDP between 1960 and 2000.

Overall, agriculture experience a decline, whereas the services and industry sectors increased over the period.

Moving to the detail, in 1960, agriculture was by far the largest contributor to India’s GDP, accounting for just over 60%. However, its share declined steadily in the following decades, dropping to approximately 45% in 1980 and then to nearly 30% after 10 years. By 2000, the figure stood at only about 15%, making it the smallest sector.

With regard to the services sector, a consistent growth was witnessed. Starting at roughly 15% in 1960 that was almost similar with that of the industry sector. It then rose gradually to around 25% in 1980 and then rose sharply to about 45% in 1990. By the end of the period, services accounted for over 60% of GDP, overtaking all other sectors. Industry, also increased over time, rising from about 15% in 1960 to nearly 25% in 2000.
