Introduction
My name is Owen, and I want to thank the admins for the approval and introduce myself to the community. I never grew a plant in my life until I moved to California end of 2016, and started working with cannabis. From growing cannabis and being out in nature, I developed this strong passion for wanting to create a literal forest of food and medicine. Through sychronisisry, I found myself traveling to Peru in 2022 and out of country for the first time ever to the jungle, to work with ayahuasca. I later found another sychronisisry with finding Discover Permaculture led by Geoff Lawton in the beginning of 2024. Enrollment begins March of 2026. At the end of this year, I am selling all that I have to make the move to Peru to start my first farm, work with and understand plant medicine, and begin planting the seeds to one day create a literal forest of food and medicine. I don't know where this path will lead, but I sure know where I don't want it to go. Through a knowing and understanding of what not to do, this guidance eventually leads to a path of what to do. Cooperation instead of competition, we instead of me. Understanding polarities for me, is a driving factor of what makes me who I am. I am grateful to join my first permaculture group, and I look forward to being a student to each person here. . Much love and respect. 🙏
A 21-Year-Old Sowing the Seeds to Design His Life
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved planting saplings🪴, helping people, and contributing in small ways to Mother Earth and the people around me. I didn’t realise it then, but that seed was planted by my dad. 👨 Many years ago, he left his job to work more closely with people and with nature. He always says one line: “I’m selfish. I’m selfish about my mother, my Mother Earth.” 🌍 Maybe growing up around those words shaped me more than I understood. I’ve spent most of my life watching him live differently. He has been barefoot for the past eight years. I’m 21 now. I’ve been happily working as a freelancer for the past few years, and I’m currently at Skool. But somewhere along the way, I knew I wanted to contribute to the Earth in a more intentional way. Four years ago, my dad introduced me to permaculture. I did some basic research back then, but I was focused on building my career, and it was difficult to make time 🕰️ for it. Recently, I completed my first permaculture design course. To my surprise, I was the youngest person in the sessions. But I'm happy that I found what kind of life I wanna build and learning early. I’m continuing to learn and research. Soon, I’ll begin practising on the land 🏞️ of a couple of my dad’s friends. For now, I’m building my remote career while designing and learning at the same time. And through it all, I’m holding on to the core principles of permaculture: Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share. I’ll share more about my permaculture design course experience in my next post. They were the best days of my life, memories I will carry with me until my very last breath. I would love ❤️ to hear from you. What inspired you to start permaculture? What challenges have you faced? Let’s learn from each other. 😊

My name's Irtaza from Karachi, Pakistan, and working as a freelancer. I love working with plants during my spare time, especially, being quiet and taking time to troubleshoot plant issues. It's kind of soothing. I love having plants and learning a lot about it. Thanks for having me in the group. P.S This winter was my first time growing veggies.
hello, fellow plant lovers!
I´m Elena, researcher and nutritionist. I love plants, I grow my own and I´m ready to learn new things from you all.

Hi everyone 👋🌱 I’m really excited to be here and learn alongside people who love growing their own food. I’m especially interested in hands-on growing, simple systems, and seeing real results (first harvest in days sounds exciting!). Looking forward to geeking out on vegetables, herbs, microgreens, and everything in between. Quick question for you all 😊 What are you currently growing or what do you want to start growing first? Happy to be here and connect 🌿
