Stack Up the Nos
Just found out that I did NOT get the studio space I applied for last month.
Rejection.
Isn't this the great part of being in a creative arena? I compare it to an actor's lifestyle. They have to be going to auditions over and over until something clicks. The rejection is high and for so many reasons – many uncontrollable. In the arts, wrong style, mis-fitting medium to the space, too much this, not enough that – it's all very subjective.
I won't lie, I was so upset about this one. This particular studio space was in a high traffic, reputable area. The rent, was amazingly low, too. This is to help artists feature themselves. It was a huge win-win to the people who got the spaces.
On further reflection though, and a short-lived big ugly cry, I realize this is not the next step. I said it was a win-win scenario. I am pretty sure life is full of those, so I am not going to dwell on this one. Who has time for that?
So, a few posts ago, I said waiting was a hard part of this application process. Now that the waiting for this studio space is over, I can move along to the next.
Goal here, is to stack up the applications, and in sales, it is true that you also "stack up the nos" so you can get closer to the yeses. That's what I am here for.
