Valentineโ€™s Day. aka single awareness dayyyyy Regardless what day it is for you- if ur here, ur on my mind. So fine. Iโ€™ll be ur chaotic antarctic valentine. Drake Passage right now. 7m swells. No sleep. Boat getting tossed around like a rag doll. And it gets worse tomorrow apparently Before we hit South America again on Monday! Antarctica stretched me. Rough crossings tend to do that. Reminded me that usually the most loving thing you can do- (for yourself and for others) is not pull. not push. Just trust people to choose whatโ€™s right for them. And here, balancing business, fitness, and relationships- thatโ€™s how we practice that. Last year I was ready to walk away from my e-commerce business because from the outside it looked like I was doing well but behind the scenes it felt like survival mode every single day, orders would come in but only if ads were running and the moment a campaign slowed down sales dropped immediately, I was constantly testing products, creatives and audiences thinking the problem was traffic when in reality I was exhausted chasing new customers just to maintain the same revenue, one night while staring at my dashboard I noticed thousands of visitors had come to my store, many added to cart, some even reached checkout, yet most disappeared and the few who bought never returned, that was the moment I realized I didnโ€™t have a traffic problem I had a system problem, so instead of pouring more money into ads I focused on what happens after someone visits the store by fixing abandoned cart follow-ups, improving the checkout experience, setting up emails that actually bring customers back and turning one-time buyers into repeat customers, within weeks sales became more consistent, ad pressure reduced and for the first time scaling didnโ€™t feel like gambling, the biggest growth in my business didnโ€™t come from finding new customers but from fixing the leaks I was ignoring, most e-commerce stores donโ€™t need more traffic they need a better conversion and retention system, curious whatโ€™s been harder for you getting visitors or turning them into buyers? ๐Ÿš€
Are we accidentally violating TCPA with our SMS campaigns?
As an business owner, I used to think TCPA was only something lead gen and call centers had to worry about but once I started using SMS for abandoned carts and promos, I realized it applies to us too. At first, I just wanted to move fast and grow revenue but after digging into it, I tightened up my opt in process, made consent super clear, separated transactional vs marketing texts and made opt out easy. Honestly, cleaning that up was a win. Not only did it reduce risk but engagement actually improved because the people on my list actually wanted the texts. Fewer complaints, better response rates and more predictable campaigns. Curious how other business owners here are handling SMS consent and compliance. Are you being strict about opt ins or taking a lighter approach?
