The average IQ for most people falls between 90–110 points. It is believed that only about 1% of the world’s population has an IQ above 140 (often referred to as geniuses), and only one person in a billion has an IQ higher than 190.

It is impossible to accurately calculate the IQ of people who lived before modern testing existed. However, many lists of the greatest minds in history often include Leonardo da Vinci, Mikhail Lomonosov, Nikola Tesla, Dmitri Mendeleev, Isaac Newton, and René Descartes.
