Day 77/120: Desmos Changed the Way I See SAT Math
Hello hello everyone! Hope you're all doing great and actually enjoying your SAT prep. As for me, I genuinely am. I don't think I've ever had this much fun studying before. Every time I learn a new Desmos trick, I get this huge dopamine rush and immediately want to find another question to use it on. For the past few days, I've been drilling math questions just to see which ones can be solved with Desmos and how to solve them more efficiently. It's honestly been the most enjoyable part of my SAT prep so far. The more I use Desmos, the more confident I become in SAT Math. I'm starting to realize that a lot of the challenge isn't the math itself, it's knowing the fastest and most reliable way to approach each question. Desmos has completely changed the way I think about solving problems. It's helping me solve questions faster, make fewer mistakes, and spend more time on the questions that actually require deeper thinking. If you haven't invested time into learning Desmos yet, I seriously recommend it. It won't magically solve every problem, but once you know how to use it well, it becomes one of the most powerful tools you can bring into the SAT. The two videos that helped me the most are these: - James Lu's SAT Desmos Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-O4nwVHQ-Y - John's Advanced Desmos Walkthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDJ2RHMFax8 That said, knowing Desmos is only part of the equation. The biggest factor is still practice. The more questions you solve, the more patterns you'll recognize, and the more naturally you'll know when Desmos is the right tool to use. I've also been trying to solve questions that are similar to ones students have reported seeing on recent SATs. I think it's a good way to expose yourself to the style of questions that are currently being tested. Good luck with your prep, and I'll see you all soon.
