genArete: To Teach or Not to Teach!
Skill-based assessments often identify gaps between a learner's current skills and comparison criteria, but how do clinicians determine which skills should actually be taught?
This presentation explores the decision-making process that follows assessment and examines multiple approaches to addressing underperforming skills, including direct instruction, foundational skill development, accommodations, environmental modifications, and situations where skill development may not need to be prioritized.
Using the genArete Learning System as an example, participants will learn how to make skill selection decisions more transparent, collaborative, and responsive to the needs and goals of learners and their support networks.
Learning Objectives:
• Select options for responding to underperforming skills following the results of skill-based assessments.
• Describe features of selecting accommodations versus skill building.
