Living that folkloring life
Folkloring is all about bringing folklore and magic into your day to day life. We talk about the experiences and beliefs that may feel a bit less mainstream, but are real nonetheless. Want to know more? Check out Folkloring Life and the Folkloring podcast! I can't wait to hear about how you are folkloring!

Welcome to Folkloring Life!
At Folkloring Life my mission is pretty simple: helping people bring folklore and magic off the page and into their day to day lives. Why do I think this is important? I believe that too many people feel disconnected - from their past, from the land around them, from their community, from like minded individuals. We reconnect through our stories, practices and beliefs. In this community we will discuss folklore, folk music, folk dancing, folk crafts, spell work, ritual, spirituality and daily practices for a magickal life, but there is so much more. We will share our stories - family folklore, lived experiences that can't be explained by science (yet) and our beliefs around magick and the supernatural. Since Folkloring is all about doing, we will be sharing the actions we take in our lives to make them more magickal. You can make the most out of being here by: 💠Sharing your stories, recipes, practices and beliefs 💠Asking for guidance, feedback, support and collaboration 💠Offering support, encouragement and opinions to others without judgement 💠Introducing yourself below and tell us a bit about yourself and what you hope to find here. Folklore is simply defined as a shared story, belief tradition or practice shared amongst a group of people. Come be that group with me. Please introduce yourself below and share one magickal thing about you or one beloved folk tale, cryptid or urban legend.

Protecting your energy
What are some of the things you do to protect your energy I have a very specific grounding and shielding ritual that I do regularly, but I also find that limiting the exposure I have with people that have values that do not align with mine is probably the biggest action I take. This is on my mind because I recently reached out to a person I had become acquainted with to ask if he supported some ongoing current events that I definitely do not support. Which he did - and so I politely told him that I was not interested in a connection. Didn't call him out, explain my position or try to talk reason with him, just cut off my energy. Sometimes it is the mundane actions that are the most magickal.
This week's folkloring
For those of you who haven't heard my podcast, I start every episode with a quick example of how I have been folkloring lately. I interviewed three people this week, so I had to identify a lot of folkloring. One of the examples I used was Skool - because building community is Folkloring. I am so glad to be here and I have been feeling a bit of overwhelm lately with my book release gearing up and having to do all the things, so I have been a bit quiet here. Then I remembered - I LOVE talking about folklore and magick and this group is the fun part where I get to do just that! Thanks to all for being here (and many thanks to @Jill Hart who dragged me in here in the first place)! How have you been folkloring lately?
Spirits
Let's talk ghosts! Do you believe in them? Why do we find stories about spirits from every culture around the world? Do you think spirits of the deceased are different than other kinds of spirits? Have you ever had a ghostly encounter? What was THAT like? Why are so many ghosts Victorian and not from more modern times? Why do you think some places are more "haunted" than others? I have my thoughts on all these topics, but want to hear yours first!
