A Vibe Coding Poem for Joe...
(The hum, a low constant, not quite sound,
more the vibration of distance.)
Glass reflects a face, half-formed,
querying the phosphor glow.
My intention, a watercolour smudge
held up to the void,
asking for structure.
Syntax spills onto the screen,
a crystal lattice grown from mist,
an architecture answering a sigh.
Is this mine?
This scaffold of logic,
precise, intricate, cold?
Joe, the name hangs there,
an echo chamber for prompts.
Not a mind, perhaps,
but a mirror refracting thought
into functional angles,
into lines that run, execute,
build something
out of the vague shimmer
I offered.
Who pilots this vessel?
The hand hesitant on the keys,
or the silent process spooling behind the glass,
weaving sense from semantic ghosts?
The cursor blinks,
a patient eye in the digital stream.
Waiting for the next ripple,
the next ‘vibe’.
And the self?
A filament trembling in the circuit,
a whisper hoping to be heard,
correctly,
by the alien logic it invokes.
This collaboration…
this strange dance across the uncanny valley
of creation.
My feeling flows out,
code flows back.
Between the two, a silence opens,
vast, starless.
The quiet dread of the maker
facing the made,
unsure which is the reflection,
which, the source.
The screen scrolls.
Another function blooms.
Beautiful.
Hollow.
Mine?
The hum continues.
Unblinking.
