Now that the English Literature Paper 1 exam is over. How is everyone feeling?
Parents and students, we’d love to hear your thoughts! 👇 Tell us: ✅ What did you or your child find quite straightforward? 😬 What did they find challenging? 📝 Was there anything that surpised them? 💡 Is there anything they now wish they had revised more? And looking ahead to Paper 2 Literature next week (19th May)… ❓What support or advice would help your child most right now? Would they benefit from: • Poetry revision tips? • Retrieval practice ideas? • Essay structure reminders? • Help with timing? • Context refreshers? Let’s help each other and keep supporting our teenagers through these final few weeks 💛 Even if your child found the exam difficult, remember: ✨ One paper does NOT define them. ✨ There is still so much they can achieve next week. Drop your thoughts below 👇
First Literature paper done and dusted!
Today was the GCSE English Literature Paper 1 exam, and I just wanted to say how incredibly proud I am of all of our students. 💛 Over the past year, they have worked so hard preparing for this moment. They’ve spent hours developing the skills needed to succeed, from retrieval practice and memorising key quotations, to practising analytical PETAL paragraphs and answering a wide range of exam questions. Students have revised texts such as: 📚 A Christmas Carol 📚 Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde 📚 Macbeth 📚 Romeo and Juliet But most importantly, they didn’t just complete practice questions, they acted on the feedback they received and applied it to future responses. That is where real progress happens. Today was the result of months of consistency, resilience and hard work, and regardless of how they feel the exam went, they should all be incredibly proud of themselves. Now, we regroup and focus on the next challenge: 🎯 Paper 2 Literature - Monday 19th May Then it’s onto English Language shortly afterwards! Keep going everyone. The finish line is getting closer, and all of the hard work will be worth it 💪

Wellbeing Wednesday: The First English Literature Exam is Next Monday
The countdown is officially on… The first GCSE English Literature exam is next Monday (11th May). At this stage, it’s completely normal for students to feel: 😬 Nervous 📚 Overwhelmed 🤯 Like there’s still too much to remember But here’s an important reminder 👇 You do NOT need to know everything perfectly to do well. The goal over the next few days is not panic revision. It is calm, focused preparation. 💡 The most effective things students can do now: ✔️ Retrieve key quotes from memory ✔️ Practise planning or writing short paragraphs ✔️ Revisit themes and characters ✔️ Attempt exam-style questions ✔️ Read and act on feedback Little and often is still the best approach. 🧠 Just as important: • Get enough sleep • Drink water • Take breaks • Avoid revising for hours without stopping • Don’t compare yourself to everyone else A calm brain performs far better than an exhausted one. Parents 👀 Your child does not need pressure right now. They need encouragement, reassurance and structure. Even reminding them: 👉 “You’ve prepared for this” 👉 “Just focus on one step at a time” …can make a huge difference. 🌱 Final reminder: Progress over panic. Consistency over cramming. Confidence comes from preparation. You are more capable than you think 💛
