Performance issue, or learning problem?
Chapter 1: Why Hard Work Isn’t Enough
One of the biggest mindset shifts I’ve made as a coach is this:
Performance problems are usually learning problems. Most coaches don’t have an effort problem.
They have a transfer problem.
Players look great on Tuesday, but under pressure on Saturday, things fall apart.
Instead of asking:
“Did we work hard enough?”
Start asking:
“What will my players do better this weekend because of tonight’s session?”
That single question has changed the way I design every training session.
This carousel is taken from Chapter 1 of The P³ Coaching Framework. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Question for the community:
What is the biggest challenge you face when trying to transfer training into match-day performance?
