Overwhelm is not a sign that you are failing, it is usually a sign that you are carrying too much at once. I have felt this so many times myself. When life gets heavy, I have learned that the most supportive thing I can do is simplify.
You do not need to fix everything in one day. You can start by choosing one thing to soften or streamline:
• your to-do list
• your meals
• your schedule
• your expectations
And sometimes, the most powerful step is letting someone help you. I often forget to ask, but my kids have stepped in for me more times than I can count. Even my 9-year-old has helped pull me out of overwhelm with something as simple as unloading the dishwasher. Those small moments of support make a big difference.
Small shifts and even small acts of help really do create a lot of breathing room. AG
