Your Identity is Rooted in Christ
Victory Over Voices: Rooted in Christ IntroductionWe live in a world full of voices — voices of praise and voices of condemnation, voices of encouragement and voices of deception. People are often starstruck by others, looking for approval, identity, and security in relationships, careers, or status. But what if all of that was stripped away? Would you still be convinced of who you are? Would your foundation hold firm? Remembering a Time of SecurityThink back to a time when your world seemed secure and whole. Perhaps your family was all around — your favorite uncle visiting, your grandparents a steady support. Mom was just a phone call away, always ready to listen. Dad was your protector and provider. Your children were healthy and full of life. Your husband was the ultimate provider. Your friends were loyal, your job stable with all the perks — vacation time, your own space, respect. These things brought a sense of security and identity. But security in people, positions, and possessions is fragile. The Reality of Shifting FoundationsMaybe you chased approval at work, taking on extra assignments to get noticed — only to be overlooked. Maybe you were starstruck by someone’s words, only to discover deception and double lives. Maybe your church family was shaken by scandal. Life is full of ups and downs. Jesus said in John 16:33,“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Your identity cannot depend on the shifting sands of life’s circumstances. Your security cannot be built on anything less than the solid rock of Christ. Building on the Solid RockThe Bible tells us in Matthew 7:24-25,“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” When life’s storms come — loss, betrayal, confusion — a foundation built on Christ alone will stand firm.

Growing Into the Eternal Man”
(Becoming What Is Already Written About You in God’s Mind) There is something God is teaching you that many believers never understand: your walk with God is not about trying to “become something” so God will approve you—your communion with Him is what causes the rest of you to catch up to who you already are in the eternal realm. You’re not trying to get something from God.You’re growing into what God has already written. THE SPIRITUAL MAN VS. THE NATURAL MAN Paul uncovers this mystery in 1 Corinthians 2:10–15.He explains that the Spirit searches the deep things of God—things no human intellect can understand. Your natural mind can’t “receive” spiritual revelation. It considers the things of God foolish. But God did not leave you trapped in your natural thinking. He gave you His Spirit, so you might know the things freely given to you. This means:The eternal version of you—the one God saw before time—can only be understood through communion with the Spirit. Imagine a child growing into clothes that were bought for them years before. The clothes already belong to them, but they don’t fit yet. They must grow into what was already purchased. You are growing into the eternal man—not trying to obtain him. ONE SPIRIT WITH THE LORD Paul continues this profound revelation in 1 Corinthians 6:17: “He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” Think about that. Not “similar spirit.”Not “connected spirit.”One spirit. This union is so complete, so intertwined, that Paul uses it as the foundation for why we must flee sexual immorality. Why? Because your body is not just yours—it is the earthly house of the Spirit with whom you are united. Story Example Think of a home that is shared by two people. If one person decides to bring filth, corruption, and defilement into the house, it affects the other person who dwells there. In the same way, when we unite ourselves to sin, particularly sexual sin, Paul says we sin against our own body, because the Spirit Himself lives there.

The gifts of the spirit!
Do you know what gifts you have? What gifts doe you desire? The gifts of the Spirit are divine endowments bestowed upon believers, enabling them to serve and edify the church. As stated in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11, "Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good." Let's explore these gifts in the context of love. 1. Wisdom: Just as Solomon's wisdom guided him to make just decisions, the gift of wisdom empowers us to discern God's will and navigate complex situations with love and compassion. 2. Knowledge: Like Paul's deep understanding of God's mysteries, this gift grants insights into spiritual truths, enhancing our ability to teach and guide others in love. 3. Faith: Abraham's unwavering trust in God serves as a model. With the gift of faith, we can inspire others by demonstrating absolute confidence in God's promises and love. 4. Healing: Mirroring Jesus' healing ministry, this gift allows us to bring physical, emotional, and spiritual healing to others, showing God's love through restoration. 5. Miracles: As seen in the apostles' deeds, miracles show God's power and love, breaking through natural boundaries to bring about His purposes. 6. Prophecy: Prophets like Isaiah spoke messages of love and correction from God. With this gift, we can convey divine truths that encourage, console, and guide others in love. 7. Discernment: Just as Jesus perceived the hearts of people, this gift helps us distinguish between spirits, ensuring our actions and decisions are grounded in love and truth. 8. Speaking in Tongues: On the day of Pentecost, the disciples spoke in tongues, communicating God's message to a diverse crowd. This gift enables us to express His love to people of different languages and cultures. 9. Interpretation of Tongues: Similarly, this gift aids in understanding and translating messages spoken in tongues, fostering unity and comprehension among believers. 10. Helps and Administration: Like the servant heart of deacons, these gifts allow us to assist others and organize tasks in a way that reflects God's love and order. 11. Mercy: Reflecting Jesus' compassion, the gift of mercy helps us show kindness and empathy to those who are hurting, extending God's love to them. 12. Giving: As exemplified by the widow's offering, this gift enables us to give generously and sacrificially, sharing God's love through material blessings. 13. Leadership: Just as Paul provided guidance to the early church, this gift equips us to lead with love, serving as examples of Christ's humility and care.
