After three decades running several leading digital marketing agencies, I founded ABC Trips to help solos, couples, groups and families plan unforgettable luxury and adventure travel—everything from polar expeditions and African safaris to superyacht island-hopping and far-flung cultural deep dives. It’s part travel brokerage, part storytelling, part logistics wizardry… and part knowing which experiences are genuinely worth the splurge (and which are pure hype). Since 2020, I’ve traveled the world constantly with my family while documenting the experience as YouTube creators, building over 700k subscribers who follow along for the real version of long-term travel: the magic, the mishaps, and the moments that don’t make it into glossy brochures. Travel, for me, has always been less about checking boxes and more about building a life that stays curious. Along the way, I’ve written about travel and lifestyle for major publications, appeared as a guest on major network news shows and podcasts to talk about everything from expedition cruising to designing a location-flexible life, and worked closely with top travel brands, lodges, and expedition operators around the world. These days, I split my time between: - Curating exceptional trips for clients who value experience over excess - Collaborating with travel brands and media on thoughtful, story-driven projects - Exploring the world with my family, still learning as we go I’m not particularly interested in shouting into the void or chasing trends. Hi everyone, I'm Sarah, a freelance food, travel and lifestyle writer based in Perth, Western Australia. I discovered my love of travel writing when we lived in the Philippines. Since then a lot of the work I do is around local tourism. You see, what I realised when I lived away from home was how much we take for granted. There's always that attitude of 'yeah one day we'll do it'. In the years we lived away, when visiting home, I'd act like a tourist here. I'd create a mindbogglingly busy itinerary and drag my kids around doing all the things a visitor would like to experience, and we had the best time. It changed my perception about life, so now I'm really passionate about getting people out and exploring their own place, connecting with it in a meaningful way. I love being out in nature - hiking and camping. I enjoy road trips, whether short ones or longer multi-day. Don't get me wrong - I love international and interstate travel too, but since returning home, I've had a hard focus on supporting local tourism, local small businesses and encouraging my community to do the same. The challenge we have here in West Aus, is that it's cheaper to fly to Bali for a five-day stay in a luxury resort than it is to travel our incredible state or even go interstate, and not everyone is into camping to keep costs down. With the cost of living crisis we are currently in, small businesses are really doing it tough and the hospitality industry has never been able to fully recover after COVID. So I see my place here, as one to support the community, and encourage people to visit the beautiful places we have on our doorstep. If you've read this far - thanks for your time.
