General discussions and assignments
Hey everyone! Here’s a quick rundown of how our general discussions and assignments work! I’ll be posting a topic along with some thought-provoking content in the “General Discussion” tab. This is your space to share your thoughts, ask questions, and chat with others — so don’t be shy! Jump into the conversation and connect with the community. 💬✨ Along with each discussion, there’ll be an “Assignment” on the same topic. These aren’t mandatory, but they’re a fun and meaningful way to dig a little deeper and reflect on your own experiences. 🌱 Can’t wait to hear everyone’s ideas and see where our discussions take us! 🚀

Cultivating a Safe Space for Growth
Entering a new class naturally brings a sense of vulnerability, and that as a dance instructor is something to honor. The same goes for dance and movement; both ask us to be present, expressive, and sometimes exposed. By acknowledging that vulnerability, we can build a supportive environment where everyone feels free to explore. Creating a space that nurtures both personal and artistic growth. Some tools that can help are light hearted games and or tasks that ask students to check in. When students take time to check in with themselves holistically—acknowledging how they feel emotionally, mentally, and physically—they develop greater self-awareness. That awareness not only supports their well-being but also enhances their ability to learn, connect, and thrive in the classroom. What are ways in which you have felt safe in a dance class? What tools did that instructor use to create this environment?
