SIMPLY SONGS For years I have sent songs to my friends in a voice note. It’s a simple way to share a song. There is nothing there but the song. I love that. I want to share more and explore this form. For years I’ve thought the only form was a single, EP, or album. I’ve realized there are no rules. DIGITAL DISTRIBUTORS AREN’T FOR CONNECTING For years I’ve used digital distributors like Spotify in hopes of reaching a broader audience. It has not once created a connection between me and a listener. However, sending a voice note of me playing a song to a friend has. That connection is what I am looking to create with my music. This project is just going to focus on doing that. Gillian Welch was right when she said “Everything is free now.” SHORT FORM VIDEOS SUCK The other side of the digital distributors coin is short form video. Musicians are encouraged to grow their social following to get more Spotify listeners which hopefully leads to them buying merch and concert tickets. I have wasted years of my life watching videos I can’t remember. I don’t want to be apart of it. CONNECTION All this to say is I want to remove what I see as noise. I’ve let it hold me back from sharing what I love to do which is singing, writing songs, and performing. I get excited about form. This form interests me. I want to put it out in the world even if it’s just for a few. If this sounds interesting, weird, or you are just curious, please sign up. Leave when you are done. It’s all a part of it. Thank you for listening!
