How the Pause Challenge Works
The Controlled Response: Pause Challenge is a 7-day guided learning experience designed to help you practice the skill of pausing before reacting. Each day you will be invited to practice the pause in real-life situations. During the challenge you will: • practice noticing triggers• create a brief pause before responding• choose a response intentionally instead of reacting automatically At the end of each day, participants will reflect on one meaningful moment using a simple framework: Trigger → Pause → Response Example reflection: TriggerSomeone interrupted me while I was speaking. PauseI stopped myself before responding immediately. ResponseI calmly finished my thought instead of reacting with frustration. Each reflection helps strengthen awareness and reinforce the skill. The goal of the challenge is simple: By the end of the week, participants should be able to say: “I can pause before reacting.”

Welcome to the Controlled Response Community
This space is dedicated to practicing a simple but powerful skill: pausing before reacting. Most reactions happen automatically. In moments of stress, frustration, or disagreement, we often respond before we have a chance to think clearly. The ability to pause before reacting is a skill — and like any skill, it can be practiced and strengthened. Inside this community, members participate in guided learning experiences designed to develop the Controlled Response method, beginning with the foundational skill of creating space between a trigger and a response. Our first experience together is the Controlled Response: Pause Challenge, a 7-day guided practice designed to help you learn and apply this skill in everyday situations. We are glad you are here and look forward to practicing together.
