I built my Skool to 100 members
Hello! My Skool has just reached 100 members! I built my membership over several weeks.
As my business lead "funnel," I hold a free one-hour Zoom class every Sunday night. It has been going for more than 2 years now. I have used it to attract new paying students for my business, which is a small niche: providing the service of online tutoring for U.S. professional social work licensing exams.
My previous promotion for leads into that business has consisted of posting announcements every couple of months on a national bulletin board for members of the largest social work professional association. That's it. The only cost of that promotion is my association membership dues, which I pay anyway each year.
I have also made a couple of posts here and there on Facebook mentioning I am a tutor, and got a couple of leads that way.
Beyond that --- it's been "word of mouth." Referrals by students and former students to one another. I've gotten to the point that I have a great reputation, and I frequently get unexpected contacts by email, phone and text from social workers around the USA.
I promoted my new Skool to this client base, they signed up, and they mentioned it to friends / colleagues / associates. A breakthrough came last month when someone recommended my Skool in a Facebook group I've never heard of, and I suddenly got dozens of new members in a rush!
It's clear to me that I can grow this community even more, and more, and more. At this time, membership is free. The potential for monetization is huge. I've just been too busy & distracted by other projects to do more.
