optimizing SEO for YouTube isn't as hard as many people think.
It's all about understanding how it works and that's it.
First of all, YouTube (algorithms) won't be able to know what your videos are about unless you have the right METADATA.
Metadata? What's metadata?
Simply the metadata is the thing that will tell YouTube what your video is about, and these are Titles, Descriptions, and Tags, mainly + other uploading options that help for identifying as well.
So that means that you should craft and write metadata according to your videos, but that doesn't guarantee ranking in the search results.
Here's the next step:
-Keyword Research
- identify 1 main keyword that you want to rank for on YouTube and make sure that it has low-medium competition and high search volume using a tools like vidIQ or Tubebuddy so you can rank easily, after that come up with 2-3 sub-keywords that you could rank for as well besides the main one.
After you come up with the target keywords that you want to rank for, now it's all about having these keywords in > title - description (top) - tags (top) - transcript or the video itself (preferably)
Avoid:
- putting the sub-keywords in the title instead of the main one (make sure the main keyword is in the title)
- adding many hashtags in the description or separated keywords (make sure to have them all in 1-3 paragraphs max)
- not utilizing tags at all (tags play a minimal role but still it's effective)
> Pro Tip:
- if the videos that are ranked for the same keyword that you want to rank for don't have this keyword written in their titles, make sure to add it in your own and that will EASILY guarantee ranking if the competition is good or small.
