Estimation and take offs;

I am wanting to get into a career in estimating and takeoffs. I am looking for information on where to go to get enough knowledge to get into a entry level estimator or project engineer position so I can gain experience to move up into a full time estimator position and hopefully a project manager.

As I work towards becoming a project/construction manager as my end goal will I need to get licensed or certifications to do those roles?
