The New Year: A New Season for God to Do New Things for Us and Through Us! But setting goals for a new year can feel daunting, especially if it's something we've tried before. We need faith, which comes by hearing, which comes by the Spoken Word of God. (See Romans 10:17.) So what does God say? "Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, [and] rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:19 KJV) "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." (Philippians 4:13 KJV) "For with God nothing shall be impossible." (Luke 1:37 KJV) That means *God* will do a new thing, but we have the *choice* of whether to be part of it. It also means we can accomplish *anything,* but only *if* we're *with* Him rather than against Him, and only *if* we're working *through* Him. Call to action: - Ask God what to do in this new year, this new month, this new week, and this very day. - Take time to listen for His answer. - Whatever you believe you've heard, check it by Scripture because He never contradicts His Written Word. - If you believe you've heard something big, get Godly counsel. - Write it down. - Take 30-60 minutes on a regular basis, starting today, to break it down into tasks and schedule them. Try to schedule a week at a time, but if you only get a few days worked out, block out time right after those few days for your next planning session. - Become accountable by sharing your goals and your progress. A group like this is a great place to do that, by the way! - No matter how thoroughly you have the day planned, pray daily and listen for God's response, including on matters of what to do that day. He sometimes has different plans than we expect! - Each time you feel doubt creeping in, read, quote, listen to, or even sing Scriptures such as the above Verses or Joshua 1. Hearing God's Word is so different from quoting mantras or affirmations. Remember, it's the same Word that made the world, and when you speak it, you release that same power!
