To all the adults learning to swim
Hi Adult swimmers,
I am just like you learning to swim, around 40 hrs in to learning swimming. Recently, I saw an email from Jeff mentioning a women who was afraid to drop her head inside water as she was worrying if someone peed in the pool. Before I started my swimming lesson I was afraid to stand in a shower with my nose pointed towards shower. I thought I am deprived of oxygen and panicked. Such was the fear of water. When I started to go to swimming clases along with my son the coaches over there coudn't understand my fear but asked me not to fear but didn't tell me how to overcome the fear. I continued swimming gradually while seeing most of coach Jeff videos on youtube and some other videos as well. Now I am able to duck dive, dive inside water and do many other things. Partly I was inspired by 10 year old son who didn't have an pinch of fear in water. So I am posting a short video of him enjoying in pool and encourage all viewers to have such attitude in water while learning to swim. Just love water and have fun and learning comes gradually. As coach Jeff says learning comfort in water is more important before learning strokes. The video is taken in a Hotel pool in Chennai, Southern part of India. The second video is me swimming (Mostly self learnt from YT videos). Not a smooth swim but I hope I will reach there.
