Sobriety-
TRIGGER WARNING: drugs, alcohol and violence Updated as I can๐Ÿฅฐ I had a very difficult childhood, I did not fully live with my mom until I was 14. Before that I was in and out of foster care and lived with my aunt and uncle who abused me. Fast forward to 14 when I moved in full time with my mother who had just gotten sober from her 30 year heroin addiction. By the time I moved in with my mother I had already tried most drugs except heroin, but I was drinking and doing coke often. I used to have bars on my bedroom windows because my mom was trying to stop me from sneaking out, well I couldn't get out but my friends would come to my windows to deliver drugs. Up till this point I had not heroin because I didn't want to be like my mom, she failed as a mom, she contracted a life altering disease, she lost everything she ever had. I couldn't see the sobriety, I didn't care I was too hurt from what she had done, the way she left me. When I was a baby I was with my mom in her full blown addiction. We didn't have a home so we slept and lived in a broken down van in a junk yard. I was potty trained on a hubcap. So for my second birthday my mom gave me to my aunt and uncle so that I could have a good Christmas, but she promised to be back in a few days. She never came back to get me. This all has relevance so hold on! So I was hurt, very hurt and I focused on the hurt for a while, I was 14. Then when I was 16 years old so around 2001-2002 my mom was diagnosed with stage 3b ovarian cancer. Within a week she had a total hysterectomy and they basically said they got what they could but there was some in there they could not get. That in a few years she would be full of cancer. At that time, my mother had always been so sick because as I mentioned earlier she had gotten HIV then full blown AIDS by the time I was 6 months old to a year old. I was used to doctors telling me she would die, I was in grieving therapy and everything! I didnโ€™t believe them, honestly I thought she was invincible. Well I asked her to ask her doctors for OxyContin because we could sell them and she said absolutely!! She asked, we picked them up and I was now making money for my family, selling my moms drugs. That only lasted one full month, I gave her money and buy the next month I had nothing to give because I took all the pills. She was really upset, and I moved out. I think itโ€™s also important to mention that my whole life I was hiding my sexuality and who I needed to be.. and that being with men was a way to be accepted in my family.

Welcome
Welcome to my community on cannabis!!! Iโ€™m super excited to be here and to teach everything that I know about weed! First letโ€™s start off with my name is Jenne, Iโ€™m about to be 40 and for the past almost 3 years Iโ€™ve been working at a cannabis store. My position has gone from bud tender to part time inventory manager so one thing I know this is product! I got into cannabis because my mother had cancer and we used it medically for her. Once she couldnโ€™t smoke anymore I made her butter. I saw the benefits and it helped not only prolong her life but make it more manageable while she was here. Now I use cannabis medically and recreationally. We will go over everything about the plant- covering thc content - terpenes- cannabinoids- the entourage effect and everything that makes this plant amazing. We will go over medical benefits and of course all the different kinds, because you can smoke it, take gummies, have a tincture, drink a beverage, have a different edible like chocolate or rice crispy treats! Also thereโ€™s rso and concentrate, vapes to smoke and even weed inhalers!! Crazy new world, well old world that weโ€™re just figuring out!! While I was getting sober, figuring out my momโ€˜s journey, figuring out my journey I got into yoga and meditation, and I am a certified yoga teacher and a certified meditation teacher, and this is a big part of my journey so I will share this with you guys as well!! So please introduce yourself, and where are you in your cannabis journey??? Have you ever done, yoga or meditation? Are you on a sobriety journey?
Decarbing for Edibles
Before you make a single edible, there is one step you absolutely cannot skip. ๐ŸŒฟโœจ Decarboxylation. Because Raw flower does not actually contain THC. It contains THCA, the acidic form that will not give you any intoxicating effects at all. The process of applying gentle heat is what converts THCA into the active THC we actually want for our edibles. Skip this step and your whole batch will be a disappointment. ๐Ÿ’š The good news? It is SO much simpler than the word makes it sound. Here is all you need to know: ๐ŸŒฑTHC dominant flower: 240ยฐF for 40 minutes ๐ŸŒฑCBD dominant flower: 240ยฐF for 90 minutes ๐ŸŒฑCBG dominant flower: 220ยฐF for 60 minutes ๐ŸŒฑAn oven safe dish with a lid and a timer. That is genuinely it. Once you understand decarbing, everything else about making edibles at home starts to make sense!!!

Curious, how many of you are also a holistic health/wellness practitioner alongside being a cannabis enthusiast? If so, what kind or what is your specialty?

Thc and terpenes:
Are you just looking at thc content or are we looking at terpenes to when buying our cannabis products?? In my personal opinion you need a nice mix of both thc and terpenes for the best results, and I am constantly terp shopping. Sometimes thc content isnโ€™t all itโ€™s cracked up to beโ€ฆ. ALSO- I need yโ€™all to know that there is a margin of error when cannabis is sent for testing. There is a standard 5-15% margin- what does that mean??? That means that there thc content can be up to 5-15% more or less then whatโ€™s listen on the container. Knowing things like this make me more terpene conscious, also knowing certain terpenes do certain things, Iโ€™m mostly looking for pain relief!!! What are you looking for when smoking, other than the high!!??
