Most business owners have a “your email sounds like everyone else” problem.
Here’s what my own numbers look like:
~55% open rate
~6% reply rate
1–2 real opportunities per 100 emails
Not amazing — but definitely better than the usual “0 replies and depression.”
Most cold emails get ignored because they all sound copy-pasted.
You’ve seen these:
“I noticed you’re in the [industry] space…”
“I saw your company focuses on [generic observation]…”
“Thought you might be interested in…”
People can smell a template instantly.
It’s why business owners delete emails without even scrolling.
So instead of sending that same lifeless outreach, I rebuilt my approach from scratch.
Not with more tech.
Not with a new script.
Just one simple idea:
Make the first line feel like a human actually wrote it.
I created a system (tbh: modified a system Nick Saraev used) that writes the kind of opener you’d write if you actually did your homework.
Two versions:
1. Deep Personalization
For when you want to show you really looked into their business.
It checks what their company is doing, what they posted recently, what they’re building — then turns that into a short, relevant opener.
Feels like a real person talking to a real person.
(I copied and modified Nick's system)
2. Quick Personalization (the one business owners love)
This is the cheat code.
All it needs is:
Their job title
Their company
And it generates an opener that speaks directly to the challenges someone in that role is usually dealing with.
Takes about 15 seconds.
(Built myself)
Example:
Generic:
“Hi Sarah, I help marketing leaders improve their funnel conversion…”
Personalized:
“Sarah — saw you’re running marketing at a growth-stage SaaS company. Most heads of marketing at your stage are juggling demand gen, product marketing, and team scaling at the same time. Curious what’s slowing growth more — lead quality or deal speed?”
Why this matters for business owners?
Generic → ignored
Relevant → read
Human → replied
This simple shift makes outreach cheaper, faster, and far more effective — without hiring a team or spending hours “personalizing” one email at a time.
It works for anyone reaching out:
founders, agencies, SDRs, consultants.
Headline → personalized line → send.
I’m sharing this because most business owners silently hate doing cold outreach — but they hate wasting time even more.
Curious: what’s the biggest headache in your outreach right now?
