Paint & Painter Panic
Yesterday I got a call from a friend who had a painter on the job and no colour plan for her house. Yikes. She was in a panic and that's not what the painter needed at the time. Thankfully there are alot of online tools thesedays that can help with minimal input. So we started. The options for fences (I thought she was talking the back fence and wall) were Colorbond colours and I thought from experience that Woodland Grey was going to compliment her new polished floors and the look she's trying to get with some sage outdoor pieces. Only to be lost in translation and the painter painted the front picket fence in Woodland Gray. Oops. This is where a full colour schedule would be a good starting point before the start. Next step to complete that with a series of colours that will tie in tonally and then he can move onto the front door and step through to the back yard.
Who We Help
What niche are we serving? Building Project Women serves women (and their partners) who are navigating residential renovation, new builds, or construction projects in Australia — and who are overwhelmed, underprepared, or have stalled mid-project. Our clients are capable, educated women aged between late 30s to mid 50s. Potentially a first-time renovator or someone who has tried before and been burned. Our clients live in metropolitan or regional Australia, are likely homeowners, who are making one of the biggest financial decisions of their life. Our clients are intelligent but not necessarily construction-trained. They communicate well however there is a knowledge gap — and that gap is costing money, confidence, and sleep.

Building Contracts and Owners / Clients Responsibilites (Risk Management)
It's a good time at contract signing to arrange your own responsibilities in the project engagement. Your builders and consultants will deliver to contract and they also want to know what you can deliver to support their work. This goes beyond payment stages and milestones. It relates to how site visits are conducted, how communications are recorded, how variations are documented and how health and safety issues are resolved. There are many client / owner obligations that a builder may request. This may involve items such as dealing with neighbours, parking, choices in materials, operating hours and the like. You may think that these things are minor but it is good to set some of these expectations early as a matter of risk management in your project.
