No Fluff Just Results!
I got let go from my job and didn't have any prospects or ideas of what i wanted to do next. I was working dead end jobs with no real future in sight and i felt like a failure. I was always good with computers, but could never translate this into working in the field. One night found BowTied doing a live online, and said why not. I Brought his book, and watched all of his content and was able to see the master plan. I executed on EVERYTHING he said, i got all 4 certs, i took them in the recommended order, i followed the recommend time frames and MOST IMPORTANTLY i did the home labs. My resume was formatted based on BowTied's examples and to my amazement, i kept getting hits. All this being said, i officially start my first job in the industry 1/5/2026 (First Monday of the new year) Side note, one thing i feel that really gave me the edge was of course doing having projects/homelabs on your resume, but in particular RECORDING VIDEOS and linking them in your resume. I made a private playlist on YouTube and i could see in real time, how many jobs were clicking the link and adding views to lab videos. Lastly this will sound super corny, BUT i can for the first time say i have a career.... This is worth its weight in gold. In the past, my leisure time was plagued with "im wasting my time, or i could be doing more, the clock is ticking" so being able to let my brain rest is amazing. If yall have any questions i will try my best to answer. Best of luck to everyone out there, just keep your head up and don't quit. Stats for nerd: 48 total jobs applied I applied between 11/6 - 12/3 11 phone interviews I Literally had 3 jobs that wanted me and i was able to have my pick of the liter and turned down the other 2 (I planned on applying more after the second week of January because there was a lot of delay with thanks giving, Christmas & New Years approaching but i got an offer!)

I did it! First I.T. Job Ever
Today I was offered a job as a Digital Technology Support Specialist at a local heavy vehicle manufacturing plant. I accepted the offer. Early in July of this year, I opened ChatGPT and asked "Give me a list of 100 good paying manual labour jobs in [my area]." It gave me a list of 100 jobs. None of which I was interested in. But, I told the AI my situation "I’ve worked as a line cook, PSW, DSW, and tutor for students with developmental disabilities, but after 10 years in support work, I went back to cooking. My current job doesn’t pay enough to support a family, and I want a better-paying role with benefits but hope to avoid more student debt." One of the jobs listed was IT support / entry-level tech. I thought to myself, 'hey I could do that.' In three and a half months: 1 certification 45 applications 1 phone interview 2 in-person interviews 1 job offer (accepted) Three and a half months of applying to jobs every week, studying for CompTIA exams everday, learning labs and recording videos about my home lab every week, and eventually getting my first I.T. certification. Proud of myself. Now the real fun begins.

🔥 Why Great Interviews Don’t Get Offers 😬
I see people walk out of interviews feeling confident and still get ghosted 😵‍💫 They answered the questions well and felt the vibe was good 👍 The problem is interviews aren’t scored the way you think 🎯 You’re not competing against the job description 📄 You’re competing against the other candidate’s risk level ⚠️ Hiring managers don’t ask “who is smartest” 🧠 They ask “who feels safest to put in this seat” 💺 One small red flag can outweigh ten good answers 🚩 Most candidates never realize what that red flag was ❌ That’s why feedback is vague or nonexistent 👻 Comment "OFFERS" and I’ll DM you my Tech Interview Breakdown Guide.
You’re allowed to get into tech for the money
I can’t stand the virtue signaling. You don’t need a deeper altruistic reason for wanting to start a career technology. You don’t have to be passionate about coding. It’s actually better if you’re NOT Cyber Batman. You can be just passionate about paying rent. About putting food on the table. About sending your kids to better schools. About being able to one day retire. About being able to afford a Disney vacation once a year. About being able to retire your wife. About not checking the price at the pump. About not having to hunt for deals at the grocery store. About spending an extra $10 to have your coffee delivered to you on a Saturday without feeling guilty. Life is expensive. And it’s not getting any cheaper. Go start a career that pays well enough that you can really enjoy it. That, my friends, is reason enough. -Evan PS - send me a DM if you want to chat about starting your career
