Tanning Beaver tail
I’ve got a bunch of beaver tails in the freezer. I’ve fleshed some out before with the hopes of using them for grips, shelf and back plates. I’ve tried a couple ways but haven’t been able to get it anywhere near a professional tannery. They return to a dry stiff leather. I’ve talked to a few taxidermists as well and they haven’t found the perfect recipe either. Has anyone here been successful in tanning beaver tails for projects? If yes could you please share your secret. Thank you.
