🎯The One Instinctive Aiming Drill Almost No One Practices (But Should)
Grant Richardson has written many articles in Traditional Bowhunting Magazines and I had the opportunity to speak to him about the "One Instinctive Aiming Drill Almost No One Practices (But Should)"... You don’t need your bow for this. You don’t need a range. All you need is two quiet minutes. The Drill ⬇️ Minute 1: Sit down. Pick ONE spot across the room.Lock in. No movement. No drifting. Minute 2: Raise your bow arm and visualize: Draw → anchor → release → hold. Visualize whatever you shoot - target, 3D, or an animal. The brain doesn’t know the difference between real reps and focused visualization. Why This Works ✅ - Trains focus and concentration - Builds instinctive aiming pathways - Exposes weakness under pressure - Sharpen skills even when you can’t shoot Instinctive shooting is a perishable skill. If you don’t train it, you lose it. This drill keeps you sharp - even off the range. 👇 Question for the group: What breaks your focus the fastest when you’re shooting - movement, noise, or pressure? Let’s talk.

I actually love this drill. This helped me to be able to switch from left handed aim shooting to right handed instinctive shooting
Hunting scouting
Was out on private land hunting and scouting with snow on ground seeing the trails where tearing up for food. End of rifle season this week then late season starts again after Christmas. It is muzzleloader and archery for 3 weeks. This was interesting only patches with no snow just off some oaks. Bumped a couple does found there bedding. Starting to put some stuff together.

@Grant Richardson maybe get lucky and get in time. Was a great hunt. Found doe bedding and many trails and rubs. Lot set up for late season. Good luck on your two tags
A good day
Good day in the woods. A few weeks ago I made my best shot on a game animal to date. It was a male spruce grouse. He was about 15 feet up a tree and the tree was about 12 yards away. The brush was too thick to get any closer. Perfect headshot. He was a couple feet from the trunk of the tree, out on the limb. A good clip and he was straight down out of the tree. Couldn't get in there to grab him but that's what my little dog is for. Needless to say I was pretty sure that arrow was gone. We looked for a little while but even Sadie-May couldn't find that thing. Until now! Went hiking through that area again checking out the new tracks in the snow. That right there is the beauty of a good flu flu fletch and stump head. Standing practically straight up and down. Cannot believe I found it.

Hearing and seeing you all up North chase birds with a bow and the stories is awesome. Pa not a big grouse population but they stock pheasant's yearly so next year I am going to get my pheasant tag and go out and do with bow.

@Colton Deline yeah I think I will have seen ring necks why deer hunting so I think add those and small game squirrels also to get even better at shooting
Osage bow
Just finished modifying my bow. Added lamination to limbs to increase draw weight. Installed string nocks. Made my own quiver also. Just ordered some wooden arrows to complete the outfit.

Nice look forward to seeing the whole set up and shooting
Tracking.
Hit a nice buck. Tracked for close to 2 miles then lost blood. Going to have drone come look in the AM. Never not recovered a deer. Weighing heavy on me.
