Arthur from Sunshine Coast, Australia!
Hello Bloomies! I am Arthur Maddocks-Brown 😎 I am 32 and live in Australia. Originally from the UK but moved to the Island of Sunshine, great sandy beaches and baking hot sun 23 years ago when I was 9. I used to be a sporty guy playing football and in adulthood I took up skiing which is my favourite thing to do in life. It is the one thing I feel completely in flow, my heart rate increases, I become more aware of the senses, the cold air on my face, the bumps in the snow, the sounds of nature and people having fun. I am one with my skis and the mountain and thats empowering! Nothing compares to it for me! I joined Bloom Beyond Bullying because I first of all am Danni's partner and I want to support her growth in this space, secondly, this is a real meaningful and purpose driven mission, helping people move through their bullying trauma. I was bullied when I first moved to Australia at 9 and then when I was in high school for the entire duration. I could count 3 separate reasons and times it was worst. It stemmed from 1: Being different, 2: Appearing to have more & 3: Being good at what I did (football / soccer) Unfortunately, I have been on both sides, shamefully. I was bullied, but I also was the bully and I only really identified this later in life as I grew up, what I thought was teasing and joking around now I think was bullying. This is a great community designed to help victims move forward and become empowered and theres nothing better than that! The best lesson I have learnt in life so far... I have many lessons: Trust your gut / instinct, You only fail when you give up, giving up is a death sentence, consistency is the key to all achievements. The most important lesson though I think is to lead life with love, kindness and compassion. When I do things with love, I do it better, more intentional and more committed. My Favourite place in the world I would say is in a quiet corner on top of a snowy mountain, theres a place in Australia I go skiing where not many people go and it's just so beautiful along the snowy river.
