AI.com - the Domain name story💰🤯
So I am a bit of a domain name junky.
I purchased my first domain back in 2002, teamboosters.com. At the time, I was going to revolutionize how High School Booster clubs purchased apparel.
Fast-forward twenty-four years, and the domain sits in my portfolio, unused. I have about twenty similar domains, not in use, but they are near and dear to my heart. I refuse to let them go.
Watching the Super Bowl, I couldn't help but notice the Ai.com ad that urged people to claim their URL. This is somehat related to my Link-in-Bios I offer members of this community on the domain skool.bio
The ad hooked me, so I visited the site, only to find it crashed under the onslaught of people who flooded it at the same time. Oh well, I thought, what's a few million to OpenAI?
The next morning, a friend of mine sent me an Instagram post about the domain name AI.com.
This is crazy....
In 1993, Arsyan Ismail, a Malaysian boy, purchased the domain because it matched his initials. In 2026, he sold the domain for $70 Million. Not a bad return on investment.
So I want to know, is anybody sitting on a pot of gold?
It doesn't have to be a domain name. Tell us what you have that is worth $$ or is just invaluable to you.
