Scripture: James 5:7 NIV
“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.”
Have you ever waited on rain—truly waited through a drought? When the ground grows so dry that cracks open wide enough to swallow your foot? We have. We have hauled water for animals and hand-watered gardens, all while watching the sky and praying for rain. We have spread seed across the pasture and raked it in, trusting that rain would come in its time.
There have been seasons when drought forced hard decisions—selling animals because hay became too costly to afford. These moments teach us that for everything there is a season: a season of waiting, a season of learning, and a season of gratitude for what we still have. And when the rain finally comes, it is received not just with relief, but with a deeper, humbler thankfulness.
