I am 65, on Medicare as of September 1st; as I had lost my job in February, I was on Medicaid in Indiana. When I went on Medicare, I did the redetermination for Medicaid, and was told that because I had “resources” more than $2000, I did not qualify for that program. I am still unemployed, have no income, and a total asset—EVERYTHING- less than $14,000. (Including Roth IRA) It seems that I am meant to become destitute and homeless before qualifying??? Before turning 65, I was living on the residuals of my former job (more than $14K) and had qualified for Medicaid. I turned 65, have less money, and do not qualify for it?? I did not take my SS or my IEDS because together it was less than $2000/m and that’s because I’m not yet FRA (67) until 2028. *hoping to find work until then…* Thoughts?

I just turned 70 and am applying for SS benefits. I have a small home business (earn less than $5430 a month), and I'm wondering what the rules are about earning self-employment income when over the age of 70?

I turn 63 in Jan. In order to recieve the rate at that age should I apply then to avoid being pidgeon holed into the lesser amount?
