A major developer, Persimmon Homes, is asking to cut back the number of affordable homes on a large housing estate near Norwich.
Originally, the plan was to build 1,000 homes with a third being affordable. But now, due to ârising costsâ and âsite issues,â theyâre only building around 780, and want to slash the affordable units from 185 down to just 30.
The local parish council is pushing back, saying this makes it even harder for residents to get on the property ladder and that thereâs been âno engagementâ from the developer.
This really highlights the tension between profitability vs. community impact, doesnât it? On one hand, developers are struggling with rising costs⌠but on the other, families are finding it harder than ever to buy their first home.
