Q & A
Kennel conundrum
We are in the first week of day school. Lenny is roughly 8 months and has been sleeping in his kennel since day 1. He has seldom to never slept all night and I have gotten into the habit of opening the kennel at 5am and letting him free sleep till we get up at 7am. Further, putting him to bed is still a process. We put a sheet over the kennel but often have fingers in the bars for comfort before he settles. It is very common that he will cry once or twice or 3 times throughout the night. Typically he is not needing the bathroom but more just wanting comfort it seams. When he was little he had naps in the kennel but has not for a few months. When we are out of the house he is in a pen, not a kennel 1) I notice the kennel he was put in at Arsenal is significantly smaller than what we have at home. Does this matter? He has never had an accident in his kennel and had a divider when he was smaller. 2) his kennel is currently in our bedroom, is that part of the problem? 3)is ignoring him at night something we should do? I know I need to stop letting him out at 5 (when we are not yet awake) but the up and down multiple times a night… I’m just tired and want to sleep. 4) part of me just want to let him sleep on the bed 🤣 but I promised myself he would be kennel trained and would put in a year of effort. It’s just so much better having him stay with other people when we are away. Thanks !
Tug play + drop
This was a small impromptu drop request with play and I think she did ok for her age. I held it when I asked her to drop (I ALMOST gave in) and when she released we played more. Also, I added some touching while playing tug. Hope this was in the right direction!
