Vision Quest

Vision Quest is a sacred ceremony of the seven ceremonies brought to us from white buffalo calfwoman. This ceremony tests even the best of us. I did my four years when I was in my early twenties down in a place called indian canyon southern california. It's a pretty intense ceremony to be sitting on a hill in direct sunlight, minimal shade and very intense, hot days. You're there with your sacred pipe your star quilt blanket or Pendleton. And you've already fasted twenty four hours before you even begin. No food no water for 4 days. It's a ceremony of focus, to focus on your own heart and open it for all of creation to see within you. You're sitting in a 6 x 4 altar

For 4 days.

The beautiful part of this ceremony is challenging yourself to stay put and not let your mind tell you other wise. You spent a year making prayer ties about the vision and the success you wanna have in your life. It's a long conversation with the creator and the spirits that surround you. Nighttime is very special, it's when all the spirits come out and the animals. You see things that you wanna remember. But it's important to keep to yourself. Visions come in dreams and in waking states as well. Every morning, right before the sun comes up, you're woken up by spirit. Just sit up and greet the sun with the song and your pipe.

It's a time for deep reflection and then offering of yourself to the world around you.

This very ceremony is happening right now. This weekend that i'm a part of. My adopted father honored me as to take the questers to the hill. I can feel the connection to them.
