The One Thing You Really Need to Get That Bar Job!
Believe it or not, the most important thing isnโ€™t knowledge or experience. Sure, being neat, clean, and well-groomed matters. But the real deal-breaker, the thing that gets you hired, is attitude. A confident, open personality tells a manager you can engage with customers, stay calm under pressure, and blend smoothly into the chaos of hospitality. Bars can teach you their systems. They can teach you how to pour, shake, carry, count, clean, stock, and smile. But they canโ€™t teach you to show up hungry, willing, and excited to learn. And yes, sometimes you really do need to fake it till you make it. If you walk in saying youโ€™re a fast learner, youโ€™ve got speed, and youโ€™re keen, youโ€™ll often get the chance. The rest you pick up along the way. Ask your coworkers little things on the sly, watch closely, practise nonstop, and before long, youโ€™re not faking it anymore, youโ€™re flying. Attitude opens the door. Effort keeps you in the room..
