Google Custom Search API News

The Custom Search JSON API is closed to new customers at this point. The suggested path forward seems to be Vertex AI Search, especially if you only need to search across ~50 domains. But if you need full-on web search, the guidance is to reach out directly and talk to them about their broader web search offering (that's probably a good option for enterprise customers).

Technically, existing customers are supposed to have until January, 2027 to migrate. In theory, older setups should keep humming along until then. In practice, though, it doesn’t look like that’s universally true - some legacy implementations seem fine, while others not so much. The grace period feels a bit less predictable than advertised. 😀

What would you say is a good way to programmatically pull the top 10 results? My suggestion would be Semrush API or SerpApi, but that comes with some costs.
