AI dev transitioning to agency owner — need some advice
Hey everyone! Excited to be part of this community. A little background on me: I actually did my undergrad in AI back before ChatGPT was released. Over the last few years, I’ve been building AI projects for other people. I was getting underpaid for the dev work as a freelancer who got clients just by word of mouth in my country. But seeing people making more moeny by just selling AI automations made the think. why not just start my own agency ? I have the technical skills and the right contacts to build pretty much anything in the AI space. Fulfilling the service is completely covered. I am going to run an genraistic agency, building custom AI infrastructres for businesses. My big problem right now? Landing the actual clients. 😅 Like most people starting out, I went down the YouTube rabbit hole trying to figure out client acquisition, and my current plan is to set up automated cold email campaigns. I am also lloking to partner up or work on a comission basis with someone from this space. I'd love to ask the folks here who are already doing it: 1. Outreach: Are automated email campaigns still relevant or is there a different outreach strategy working better for new agencies? 2.Getting Off Zero: If you were in my shoes right now—starting at zero clients again—what would be your exact play to sign the first one or two paying clients?
