Someone posted about getting an AI ad that analyzes 808 samples and tells you how to EQ them, saying "Next generation of producers is cooked." But this misses the real issue with the music industry's relationship with AI and addiction.
My response cut to the core: "The music industry, focused on instrumentals/beats over lyricism, is most definitely cooked. You're dealing with 2 separate demographics - one who chases dopamine, the other who wants to feel heard/seen with some jam mixed in."
Here's the brutal truth: "The business of addiction in the music industry is doomed. More doomed than any other industry I can think of." The industry built itself on creating addictive sounds rather than meaningful content.
My advice for anyone in the industry: "If you're in this industry, I'd recommend you quickly pivot with the lived experience and expertise you have, into something more value-driven." Don't wait for the inevitable crash.
The reality check: "Your ability to attract crowds of people with addictive sound will dissipate sooner than you can imagine." AI will replace the dopamine-chasing side of music, but there's still opportunity in creating genuine human connection through authentic artistic expression.
Hope you found this valuable! :)
