Backing Up credentials (n8n self-hosted) and workflows (n8n all)
Update 12/6/24 :** Fixed error with understandable Filename writing for Credentials **
Hi, I know this isn't AI, but nonetheless whether in production or mad development phases, I've found a need to keep my workflows and credentials safe, independant of backing up n8n and it's database.
For me it has allowed me to keep multiple copies of workflows so I can refer back to them at a later date; and retrieve my API secrets without having to regerate them on the source app.
Thought this may be useful to everyone too, so see attached and feel free to use. As an aside, this workflow writes to a local directory, but it's easy to write to Google Drive / OneDrive instead if you prefer (however saving unencrypted credentials to the cloud makes me nervous!).
Enjoy!
