82% of businesses aren't using AI for anything!
This visualization from Steven Bartlett genuinely rewired how I think about AI.
Each dot = 3.2 million people. 2,500 dots = all 8.1 billion of us.
The color shows the most advanced AI interaction that person has ever had.
Look at all that grey.
6.8 billion people, 84% of humanity, have never used AI. Not once. In any form.
The green strip at the bottom? That's 1.3 billion free chatbot users.
The tiny yellow sliver? The 15–25 million who actually pay for it.
That barely visible red dot? The 2–5 million using AI for coding and development.
We spend so much time on social media convinced the whole world has already lapped us. A new model drops daily. Someone automated their entire company overnight. A 19-year-old shipped a startup from their bedroom.
Then you show a basic AI tool to someone from your hometown and they look at you like you just showed them fire for the first time.
Because the truth is, for most people on earth, that's exactly what it is.
82% of businesses aren't using AI for anything. Only 4% have mature AI capabilities. 78% of executives say it's moving too fast for their teams.
The answer to "how do I get started?" is almost embarrassingly simple:
- Pay for one AI tool. Use it every single day for a month.
- Read one book about it.
- Watch one long explainer video.
That's it. That's genuinely enough to put you in the top 1% of AI knowledge on the entire planet.
No computer science degree needed. No understanding of transformer architecture required.
We are so, so early, it's crazy.
