The Hidden Cost of Being “Hands-On”
For a long time, I thought being involved in everything meant I cared. In reality, it meant I was absorbing friction I didn’t need to. Answering the same questions. Re-deciding the same things. Fixing problems that shouldn’t exist twice. That’s when I realized something uncomfortable: Being “hands-on” is often just unstructured responsibility. A Chief Executive Human doesn’t detach from the business —they detach from repeatable problems. Once I started designing around that: - fewer things broke - fewer decisions piled up - progress felt calmer The work didn’t disappear. But the noise did. CEH isn’t about stepping away. It’s about making sure your presence is actually valuable when it is required. That’s the difference between running a businessand being the business.

Where Most People Accidentally Cap Their Own Growth
The ceiling most people hit isn’t money. It’s attention. They don’t run out of ideas. They don’t run out of tools. They run out of mental space. Every decision lives in their head: - what to post - what to follow up on - what to work on next Nothing is broken — but nothing compounds either. This is where CEH thinking matters. A Chief Executive Human doesn’t try to manage chaos better. They redesign so chaos never shows up in the first place. The shift for me was realizing: If something repeats, it shouldn’t require thinking. If it requires thinking, it should be documented. If it’s documented, it should eventually run without me. That’s not delegation. That’s intentional design. Most people stay busy because slowing down feels risky. But staying busy is often what keeps growth capped. CEH thinking isn’t about moving faster. It’s about removing ceilings you didn’t know you built. They own the business. They work in it every day. But they never change roles. They stay stuck as: - the operator - the creator - the firefighter A Chief Executive Human thinks differently. Not bigger. Differently. CEH isn’t about doing more work — it’s about deciding what should never require your attention again. When I finally made that shift, I stopped asking: “What do I need to work on today?” And started asking: “What decisions can I remove permanently?” That’s where things change. Executives don’t win by being productive. They win by reducing drag. Less friction. Fewer decisions. Clearer systems. Even if you’re a team of one, the moment you start thinking like this, the business stops feeling chaotic and starts feeling intentional. That’s the line most people never cross. They wait for revenue, scale, or a team before thinking like an executive — when in reality, thinking like an executive is what creates those things. CEH isn’t a title. It’s a posture. And once you adopt it, everything downstream gets easier to build.
